Board Meetings

United Voices for Children board meetings are bi-monthly and typically on the 4th Thursday at Elgin 1st United Methodist Church.

The 2012 meeting schedule is:  January 28th, April 29th, July 29th, September 30th and December 30th.

5th Sundays

United Voices for Children encourages local congregations to take a special offering on the 5th Sunday of the month to help support the four United Methodist-related child-serving agencies.

The 2012 5th Sundays are: January 28th, April 29th, July 29th, September 30th and December 30th.

Annual Conference Breakfast

United Voices for Children sponsors an annual fundraising breakfast at the Northern Illinois Annual Conference. 

The 2012 date is: June 7th.

Children's Sabbath

Celebration date: October 21st, 2012

United Voices for Children encourages local churches to participate in the National Observance of Children’s Sabbaths Celebration. Sponsored by the Children's Defense Fund, the National Observance of Children's Sabbaths Celebration is a way for faith communities to celebrate children as sacred gifts of the Divine, and provides the opportunity for houses of worship to renew and live out their moral responsibility to care, protect and advocate for all children.

While a Children’s Sabbath can be held anytime of the year, the October date can help connect children’s issues with the upcoming election in November. Information, lesson plans and downloadable activities manual can be found here at the Children’s Defense Fund Website.
